The Darimo Carbon Ellipse represents the latest evolution in ultra-lightweight handlebars for road bikes. With an exceptional weight of only 128 grams in its 420 mm version, it sets a new standard in the combination of lightness, stiffness and safety.
Manufactured entirely in carbon fiber, it uses an exclusive combination of bidirectional (3K) and unidirectional (UD) fabrics, strategically oriented to optimize the weight–strength–stiffness ratio. This precise arrangement of layers is the result of a meticulous design process based on finite element analysis and destructive testing, guaranteeing optimal mechanical behavior in all conditions.
Each unit is manufactured entirely by hand, with hand-laid laminate. This process allows adjusting the number and orientation of the carbon layers at each point of the handlebar, thus achieving a custom construction that maximizes safety and performance without compromising lightness.
The diameter of its clamping area is 31.8 mm, fully compatible with current stem standards. Its top part has a flat and ergonomic shape that improves comfort on long rides, while the lower area includes external grooves for guiding brake and shift cables in an orderly and functional manner.
Measurements and Geometry
The handlebar is manufactured in widths 360 / 380 / 400 / 420 / 440 mm, measured center to center.
Its "compact" design provides:
- Reach: 77 mm
- Drop: 128 mm
The central area of the handlebar offers sufficient width to install triathlon aerobars, although for this it is necessary to request a specific reinforcement during manufacturing.
Available Finishes
The Darimo Ellipse is available in four aesthetic combinations:
- Glossy 3K
- Matte 3K
- Glossy UD
- Matte UD
In the unidirectional (UD) version applied in the central area, the weight increases approximately 8 grams due to the reinforcement necessary to maintain stiffness.
Weight Limit
The handlebar exceeds the ISO 4210 standard tests, being suitable for a total weight of up to 110 kg (bike + cyclist + luggage).
For cyclists weighing more than 90 kg, it is recommended to request the reinforced version, which provides extra stiffness.
Compatibility and Uses
- Disciplines: road, gravel, cyclocross (CX).
- Recommended stems: four-bolt models with a maximum of 50 mm width in the clamping area.
- For electronic transmissions, the Di2 version is offered on demand, which incorporates specific holes for internal cable routing. The location of these holes must be specified in the order. This process adds weight depending on the number and position of the necessary reinforcements.
