Note: If you use a Darimo Ellipse road handlebar or a mountain handlebar, we recommend the Darimo IX2 stem.
The stem is manufactured as a single piece from unidirectional and bidirectional carbon fiber fabrics. It features careful construction and lamination that reduces weight and maintains vertical and torsional rigidity. The front part has a removable cover made of carbon fiber.
Like all our products, each stem is hand-laminated, which allows placing the exact number of carbon layers in the right direction for each point of the stem.
In combination with carbon, M4 titanium bolts with enlarged heads are used to avoid damage during assembly. The support and thread parts are manufactured with anodized aluminum 7075.
Technical Specifications
- Finishes: 3K Gloss, 3K Matte, UD Matte, UD Gloss (the UD finish may present small voids due to the difficulty of expelling air and a weight increase of 3-4 grams).
- Weight limit: The Darimo Stem is safe and exceeds the ISO 4210-2 standard tests, however it is not recommended for weights over 90 kg, request the reinforced version if necessary.
- Uses: Road, cyclo-cross and MTB.
- Handlebar clamping diameter: 31.8mm
- Available angles: -6º, -12º
- Lengths: 80-90-100-110-120-130mm
- Steerer tube diameter: 1-1/8″

Why that shape?
Why have we manufactured a stem that doesn't have a round section? Why not square?
This is not an arbitrary decision, but an engineering design.
After many computational finite element analyses (FEA) we have manufactured the stem with the perfect section.
Starting from the external dimensions that allow proper fiber alignment with the handlebar and steerer tube clamping area, we have demonstrated that a stem with a square-circular section (square with rounded angles), at equal weight, is more torsionally rigid reducing tension by 20% compared to a perfectly square or round section, achieving maximum rigidity and lightness possible. The following graph shows the results of the analyses carried out. We don't choose the shape, engineering chooses it.
